| Output We will deliver your transcript as an electronic file via e-mail, a formatted printout via U.S. Mail, on disk, CD, DVD, or other format to meet your needs. Quality Control For all verbatim transcripts, we rewind and listen to the audio several times to comprehend what is being said, to clear up hard to hear and understand words and phrases, and to eliminate as many "inaudibles" and "unintelligibles" as possible. We research, check, and correct technical terms, company names, brand names, medical terms, pharmaceuticals, acronyms, and legal terms. With some audio recordings there will be instances where we cannot understand every word. We do not fill in what we think was said, but transcribe exactly what we hear and do our best to clear up inaudibles. We proofread by doing a second pass with audio to ensure accuracy and then do a visual review to check for visible errors, proper punctuation, and formatting requirements. The completed transcript can be delivered immediately upon completion via e-mail. Archiving We archive all transcripts in case you need a copy in the future. Please notify us if you want all your records deleted and we will be happy to do so. Digital audio files, CDs, DVDs, and tapes kept on file for 90 days after completion of transcripts unless return is requested. Transcription Styles Verbatim: | 100% of what we hear is accurately transcribed - there are no alterations or omissions. All um's, uh's, speech patterns (like, you know, sort of, etc.), false starts, pauses, side conversations and comments, moderator/interviewer remarks, applause, laughter, and interruptions are included. Grammar, slang, and non-standard language is not corrected. Verbatim is most requested for legal and research transcription, or for transcripts that will be used for audio/video editing purposes. | Clean Verbatim: | Everything that is said is transcribed minus the um's, uh's, speech pattens, false starts, pauses, and non-relevant comments and moderator/interviewer remarks. Pauses, side conversations, applause, laughter, and interruptions can be included or excluded according to your direction. Grammar, slang, and non-standard language is not corrected. Clean verbatim is most requested for focus groups, business meetings, presentations, and conferences. | Edited Verbatim: | We edit as we transcribe to eliminate side comments and unrelated conversation, unnecessary words, speech patterns, filler phrases, false starts, etc. Grammar, slang, and non-standard language is corrected. Edited verbatim is most requested for speeches, lectures, presentations, interviews, and quarterly earnings conference calls. | | Summary: | Summarizes the discussion into a brief, easy to read version of the text which includes only the most important information, ideas, and comments. Anything not essential is not included in the summary. A summary can be useful if you need a quick review of the pertinent information or want to summarize key points from an interview or focus group discussion. | | Draft: | We transcribe what we hear listening to the audio once. There is no re-winding or re-listening to hard to hear or hard to understand speech. This style should be used only if you are going to review the audio and edit the transcript, or if you need just the concept or a summarization of what was said. | | | | Single Pass Transcription: | We also offer a single pass option for verbatim, clean verbatim, and edited verbatim transcription. All relevant content is edited and spell-checked as we transcribe, but we do not do a second pass with the audio to proofread the finished transcript. We do rewind and re-listen to the audio several times as we transcribe and do a final visual review to produce a good quality transcript. Single pass transcription is most often requested for focus groups and research interviews. |
